This is an original concept of the mythology Lamia, she fell in love with the God Zeus and had several children with him.  When Hera found out about the relationship between Zeus and Lamia, Hera cursed Lamia to lose her beauty by taking the shape of a snake and then she killed or kidnapped all of her children. I felt this story was sad as Hera decided to punish Lamia and not Zeus in the same way... After these events Lamia lost herself as she began to abduct others children and began to eat them. I wanted to create a piece where Lamia is trying to recenter herself after she was thrown into such darkness. Trying to again find her own light so that she might stop being the monster that Hera wanted her to be.
